Knob-billed Duck Sarkidiornis melanotos
(Knobbeleend)
Experiences with species

Knob-billed Ducks are quite common as one goes North of Pretoria. They are a large Duck and very colourful when the sun catches their feathers. Only the male has a knobbed bill, the size reduces when non-breeding. Juveniles have been known to be confused for the much rarer and smaller Garganey.
