Forest Buzzard Buteo trizonatus (150)
(Bosjakkalsvoël)
Experiences with species

I had been looking for this bird for a long time. Habitat is definitely not the be all and end all of separating Steppe and Forest Buzzards. I had looked at many a pale Buzzard in Magoebaskloof, flying around forests, but they had all turned out to be Steppe Buzzards. Finally I found three in a row near Port Elizabeth.

Other names: Sometimes considered a subspecies of Mountain Buzzard
