African Hobby Falco cuvierii (174)
(Afrikaanse Boomvalk)
Experiences with species

My lifer and best photo to date was in Kampala in 2009 when I found a pair with a nest in the middle of town. Subsequently I saw quite a few flying overhead at dusk. I finally added it to my Southern African bird list in January 2011, near Inhasorro in Mozambique. The bird gave an incredible acrobatic performance as it weaved and dived chasing after a butterfly.
