Caspian Plover Charadrius asiaticus (252)
(Asiatiese Strandkiewiet)
Experiences with species

Whilst out birding North of Pretoria, Etienne sent me a text: "PC Cisticola". He'd mentioned earlier in the week having heard them near Devon. Minutes later, another message: "Caspian Plovers and Montys". WHAT!!!! We quickly headed South, getting detailed directions on where to find the birds. On getting there, scanning the fields, and eventually locating 4 incredibly well camouflaged birds, one of which was interacting with a Kittlitz's Plover, which was great for size comparison purposes.
