Experiences with species We had recently seen a Gull at Lake Ngami, which I am fairly convinced was a Black-headed Gull, with somewhat abnormal wing patterns, it caused much debate, and speculation that it could be a very wayward Asian bird, Brown-headed Gull, which would be a Southern African first, and probably a first or one of the few records for the African continent and it's islands. With such confusion around the bird, which would have been my 800th Southern African bird, I was glad to see the one at WCNP, so it now became cemented as my 800th, and seeing this bird, I am now fairly convinced that the Lake Ngami bird was indeed a Common Black-headed Gull, sharing the same jizz and flight pattern as the WCNP bird.
