Black Cuckoo Cuculus clamosus (378)
(Swartkoekoek)
Experiences with species

Black Cuckoos are most vocal in the morning, with their mournful slow call, I'm so SAAAAAAAAAAAD!. In typical Cuckoo fashion, they are more often heard than seen. They are quite host specific, only targeting the Laniarius bush shrikes (quoting Roberts). In my area this would be the extremely vocal Southern Boubous.
