Experiences with species African Grass-Owls has a red data status of vulnerable in Southern Africa. My first sighting was in 1980 when we lived in Gaborone, Botswana. My parents had been visiting friends outside of town and seen one on a post at the roadside. They came home, fetched me, ad we went back to the site - it was sitting on the same post! This was a more special sighting due to the fact it was also a fair way out of range. Grass Owls are darker brown than Barn Owls, which have a rounder facial disc. Other names: Grass Owl |
