Experiences with species

My first sighting of this bird in Zimbabwe was during a high adrenalin burst of birding. We stepped out of the car and within seconds had things like Whyte's Barbet, White-breasted Cuckooshrike, Stierling's Wren Warblers and a Spotted Creeper. Next thing Jono Francis shouted "Green-backed Honeybird!!!" Not the commonest bird around! We had good views of it. My next sighting was near Hyliota Camp in Mozambique. We had been following a decent bird party, and the other 2 vehicles decided to head back to camp. I pursued the bird party and was rewarded with this as well as a Scaly-throated Honeyguide. Fortunately we found another at Levasflor chalets a few days later which everyone got to see.

Other names: Green-backed Honeyguide, Slender-billed Honeyguide
