Bennett's Woodpecker Campethera bennettii (481)
(Bennettse Speg)
Experiences with species

This is a large, and often quite vocal Woodpecker, with the female being prettier than the male, having distinctive brown markings on the face and throat. The race found in Northern Namibia lacks the spotted markings on the chest, an afternoon walk down the road rewarded me with brief views of one.
