Boulder Chat Pinarornis plumosus (610)
(Swartberglyster)
Experiences with species

These birds seem to be territorial and stay in the same place for long periods of time. We first found one North of Francistown as described in the Birdfinder in 2006. We stopped the car, and there it was - ditto October 2009. The next time I saw one was in February 2008 in Zimbabwe. Both in August that year and February 2011, I went to the same place, and there it was again! The white in the wings is fairly diagnostic when it is seen flying.

Other names: Sooty Babbler, Sooty-brown Chat-Thrush (1800's)
