Experiences with species Apart from the seemingly regular Lesser Black-backs at Orient Beach in East London, this Gull has been encountered more regularly of late around Gauteng and neighbouring provinces, with birds arriving at Leeuwpan and being a lifer in 2008, and then returning in 2012 (perhaps just not observed inbetween). This year one has pitched up on my doorstep, at a pan a few kilometers from my office. Both this and last year's birds have been immature, in differing stages of moult. Other names: - |
