White-backed Mousebird Colius colius (425)
(Witkruismuisvoël)
Experiences with species

White-backed Mousebirds were seen frequently on our 2007 trip to Kgalagadi. They are distinguised from Speckled by having red, not black legs, and the white on upper and lower mandibles, whereas Speckled has got a white lower and black upper mandible. Atlasing in August in the Kgalagadi was not too rewarding, as diversity of species was low, the migrants had not yet come back. One of my records of this bird resulted in an out of range form, showing how limited coverage was in SABAP1 in this area.
