Experiences with species
It was Birding Big Day - we had heard a trogon and decided to take a walk down a river path - Alan remarked there was a black dragonfly - as luck would have it, the dragonfly landed, hanging from a twig. CRUISER I yelled - photos taken, and oh my word, not just any cruiser, a female SABLE CRUISER! The next day I was sitting quietly by a pool in the river, swigging a beer, and couldn't believe my eyes - a male Sable Cruiser was patrolling his territory, right at my feet - amazing! These were the 9th and 10th reported records of the species in South Africa.
